THE DISTRICT OF THE SALZBURG LAKES
The district of the Salzburg lakes (Salzburger Seenland) is one of the Austrian regions that act as a role model for climate protection and energy management: its declared aim is to achieve energy self-sufficiency without resorting to fossil fuels.
In a region strongly dedicated to tourism, this allows to maintain and improve life quality, while supporting territorial marketing strategies. The attention here is primarily attached to the implementation of an integrated package of measures. The integrated framework to assess energy systems to be produced by the IDEE project will support the region in its endeavour to achieve sustainable energy sourcing, based on validated analyses and scenarios of possible measures and their effects. The objective information arising from the IDEE project will benefit both citizens and local decision-makers.
The Salzburger Seenland is especially interested in sharing experiences with Feltre and Maniago, the Italian pilot cities involved in the project.
